NHS England has committed additional £500 million to enable CCGs to commission and fund additional GP capacity across England. There is more information about the scheme in this media release issued on 25 September 2017.
To support the development of this service, NHS North Kirklees CCG and NHS Greater Huddersfield CCG undertook a survey among patients asking a number of important questions, this included questions around; timing and location of appointments, the types of clinicians patients would want to see; and what is important to the local population.
The survey ran from 25 September to 6 November 2017 with 1,969 surveys completed and 1,375 of these identifying themselves as living within Greater Huddersfield. This has provided a wealth of information to help ensure the service meets the needs of Greater Huddersfield patients and this Extended Access Final Engagement Report provides further details on the findings from the survey.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to promote, support and complete the survey. The results of the survey are now being considered as the service develops. It is due to go live at the end of March 2018.
